The Old Inn, Helston

Visited during half term week. Beer well presented. Good selection of food. However the ordering system went a bit awry and mains were coming with starters. Also I am not at all sure about the peas they were a very funny colour. The pies are just filling with a seperately cooked top, not a pie at all. Salad was excellent, fish was very tasty. For cheap and cheerful though it was ok.

Visited with 5 mates. Olde worlde house with 2010 prices - yes I know it's 2008 but these seem to be anticipating inflation. Main course was good but dessert was brought in and below par! Same weak beer as everywhere else for miles - I assumed a cartel had arisen, but probably wrong - Doom Bar & Skinners Stogs. Could do better, a lot better. This is a family pub, no its not it a pub for non-drinkers. Oh yes, the service was appalling - we were moved to 3 different tables, so that other customers could be fitted in, before we were served. No, I won't be visiting again. 1 star for the building, nothing for the beer, 1 for the food & minus 1 for the service.

Nice old Pub good food.

Visited this pub whilst on holiday, was in need of a really good meal at the time and that was exactly what I got. The ham egg and chips was highly enjoyable and the vegetable lasagne looked pretty good too. All at a very reasonable sort of price. Sadly I was unable to try out any of the beers as I was driving that day. Also the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, what more could you possibly want?
