Horse & Jockey, Knighton

Beer and meal here was good, but a bit alarmed that their food hygiene rating was just 1 Pub needs a facelift rather gloomy

The town of Knighton was to be our resting place for the night after a day traversing rural pubs in Powys. The Horse & Jockey was our first port of call in the town. It has been well described previously. We sat in a rather old room with low ceilings. Only a few other customers were present inside. There was one guy on a laptop and a family about to tuck into their evening meal at a table set inside a fireplace! Outside, the courtyard was much busier. Wye Valley Butty Bach & Three Tuns XXX were the 2 real ales. The pub also does accommodation, as we had looked to stay here. But £130 a night seems steep for a pub B & B.

Beautiful old coaching inn, with a series of ramshackle buildings arranged in a horseshoe fasion. Something for everyone - posh restaurant with booths, front bar, back bar, pool room. Three Tuns in excellent condition and best Beef Baguette every eaten. Visit blogged at http://bit.ly/2C1h1l2
