Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon

Also known as the Tafarn y Bachgen Du, which unsurprisingly is Welsh for Black Boy Inn, though one of several inn signs has a picture of a buoy floating blackly past Caernarfon castle and captioned The Black Buoy. This is the town's tourist pub, dated to 1522 but the present building is probably more accurately described as 17th century, and it is Grade II Listed as such. I entered by one of the doors on the right, which leads past a dining room to a lounge, and then along a corridor to the public bar at the far left of the building, which (surprise!) also has its own entrance. There were five beers on at the time of my visit, Bass and two local beers in one room and two more from Welsh breweries in the other. I didn't get photos of all the pump clips, though I got four of the inn signs and one of the A-board on the pavement. Poor show. Anyway, I went for a pint of Mŵs Piws (or Purple Moose) Dark Side of the Moose, one of my favourite beers and I'm pleased to say NBSS 3.5 on this occasion (£4.75). Date of visit: 7th March 2023
