Dovey Inn, Aberdovey

Another of Brains food led large pub / hotels with multiple eating / drinking areas with Brains version of the Wetherspoons laminated card of delightful cheap eats on every table. Can’t improve on the reviews below except to add that the outside drinking area to the back is a nice spot in the evening sun. This clearly is set up to make as much from the tourist trade as possible, but unlike the equivalent Brains place in Aberaevon where we were staying, the staff had a bit more about them here and the beer was actually well kept Same three Brains beers available as below, and as we were blessed with a fine weather day I went for the SA which was a well kept pint.

This is one of two hotels in Aberdyfi owned by Brain's the South Wales brewer. It consists of one large open room with a central bar and wooden floors. This is divided into different sections with a raised area at the back and areas either side. Three Brain's beers were available Bitter, Rev James and SA Gold. I went for the bitter (£2.75) which was in very good nick and a much better pint than I remembered from the distant past. This seemed a decent enough pub but it was empty on my winter midday visit.
