Bay Horse Inn, York

Very much a restaurant oriented place although it looks like casual drinkers are quite welcome in the small almost pubby part of the building at the front left. Low and whitewashed outside, the inside is more modern, thankfully not all grey; just white rough plaster above grey lower walls. The counter is down a step and offers four pulls with Taylors Landlord, Ossett White Rat, Theakstons Best Bitter and Black Sheep Blonde. Tables set for dining abound here and in a back room and of course in the restaurant off to one side. Obviously no pub atmosphere but the beer’s well kept.

A fairly plain pub in an old building on a road junction. On the right there is a reasonable bar in a long narrow room, while to the left two larger rooms are laid out for dining/restaurant use. The regular draught ale seems to be Theakston Best, with a couple of changing guests, which at time of visit were Black Sheep Bitter and Holy Grail and in good condition (Cask Marque accredited).
