The Red Lion, Sheffield

Only a short visit to this one as it was the last stop before catching my train back down to the smoke and I primarily came here to look at the small snug behind the bar which fortunately, despite the pub being quite lively on this early Saturday evening, was completely empty and I had it to myself. Same four ales on as mentioned below and I finally succumbed to trying the Abbeydale Moonshine which wasn’t too bad a pale ale and decidedly better than their Daily Bread I had earlier on this visit to Sheffield.

Attractive frontage with bold Wards signage still showing the original ownership. The slightly split-level 'L'-shaped interior has been refurbished in a semi-traditional style, but the small side extension (with a compact front patio terrace) is more modern in appearance. Also has a pool table and a nice hidden snug. Four real ales on handpump: two from Stancill - Barnsley Bitter and the Blonde (£1.80, half) - Abbeydale Moonshine and Holy Grail from Black Sheep.
