The Griffin, Leeds

Five or six hand pumps of which the best was Cascade Pale Ale @ 4.8% ABV. Just nipped in for a quick half while waiting for a bus to be confronted by a quite loud quiz which put me off a bit. Have been in many times usually to watch football on the TV.

A large corner pub. As its a Greene King pub I wasn't expecting much beerwise but was quite surprised to see a decent selection considering. Of the 6 handpumps only 2 where Greene King usuals. A large open plan interior in familiar Greene King-like decor.

We too noticed the Taylor Walker beer on handpump on our arrival, with a further five to choose from. We couldn't get through the door on Fri or Sat eve, so popped in on Sun afternoon. The pub doesn't really have any outstanding features. The various beer selection is worth a quick visit here, not really my type of pub to stay long in, however my Goose Eye Chinook was I good, so would call again.

Apparently this is Taylor Walkers take on what a London pub should look like. I'm not sure they're achieved that, but it's certainly better than Bar Censsa that it replaced. One large room with some semi circular seating to the left and the bar to the right. There's an open area to the rear as well. Pretty quiet on our early Friday evening visit, but only 2 of the handpumps had clips on them. My pint of Ridgeside Desert Aire was in good condition though. As we were leaving a couple of large groups of loud dipsticks arrived and about 10 minutes later so did the evenings bouncers. It was OK on our visit, but I suspect it's not one for the faint hearted later on a Friday or Saturday.

The Griffin is a decent looking corner pub that is very close to Leeds train station. Once inside the main bar room is long and narrow with the bar running down the right side,there is comfy bench seating facing the bar,this area looked quite nice but was far too busy to have a drink in,there is a much large area to the rear which extends to the right,the seating is mainly normal tables and chairs plus some tall tables and stools,this area seemed more like a canteen than a pub. There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,but it was too busy to note all beers,i had a drink of Ridgeside Jailbreak which was a very nice drink,the other beers i noted were Black Shep bitter and a beer from Salamander. I would be quite happy drinking in the main bar area at the front at a quieter time. Pub visited 13/12/2014

called in this new pub 3 days after it opened to find a very nice pub let down by mediocre beer at top end price`s £3.75 for a pint of moorhouse`s pendlewitch my other half had half of peroni lager £2.30 we will not go again the quality of both was poor
