The Castle, Wakefield

A roadside pub on the main road through Sandal, and almost exclusively for diners, to judge by the way the tables are set up; grey paint is also a bit of a clue, I find. Dreadful furnishing and even worse music. The service was efficient and impersonal: "Enjoy your drink!" To be fair, even though the choice was Doom Bar or Wainwright, my half of the former was in very good condition. Another highlight was a real fire - well, it was mid-December, but come to think of it, probably no colder than it's been this April. Maybe I'll go here again to get a warm. Only kidding.
