A remodelling of the old pub sees a new rear extension and the relocation of the toilets further back. Beer quality and range is unimpaired so don’t miss on your transpennine rail ale trail. Six pulls one side seven the other, still with a range of Theakstons plus others.

Standard pub with 3 distinct areas. Very average and pub like, tucked out of the way near the station

Unspoilt,no frills, traditional local situated between the railway station and the canal, with friendly locals and a landlord from the 'Old School'.This down to earth pub has an adequate selection of cask beers,and on my Tuesday afternoon visit found the Flying Scotsman to be top drawer.Not the easiest place to find but is worth seeking out,as Old Boots points out in his detailed review it is well indicated from the main road.

Absolutely spot on, good beer, ace landlord and a minor kitchen fire all in one visit. No rat dogs either. Opened up on request at 9am and offered breakfast. Will definitely visit again.
