The Shepherds Boy, Westtown, Dewsbury

Busy but cosy Ossett pub on the western outskirts of Dewsbury. After the disappointment of the West Riding Refreshment Rooms, I found what was to be my favourite pub of the day in West Yorkshire next up. Different sections and rooms can be found around a central bar. There were very few seats available when I arrived and it continued to fill. A few were also sat outside, despite weather not being the best. All beers were from Ossett and their associates. In addition to Ossett Yorskhire Blonde & Silver King, Rat White Rat & Riverhead Butterley Bitter, they also had Ossett Excelsius. They also had a couple of real ciders - Snail's Bank Strawberry & Lime Cider & Celtic Marches Wild Berries Cider. Staff were reasonably friendly. The combination of decent ales, cider, cosy interior and friendly and welcoming atmosphere makes this a decent pub to visit.
