Friendly one bar pub with a couple of side areas for drinking and playing pool.4 real ales were on,2 from Harvey's and 2 guest beers.Well worth a visit.

Sat on the edge of the town centre, this is a nice traditional pub with a half decent selection of ales. The interior is classic dark wood panelling plus a few interesting odds and ends on displays, including old newspaper clippings, such as the Daily Express front page from the day of the Kennedy assassination. The front of the pub was populated by the locals sat either at the bar or on the tables opposite, whilst the rear was deserted, despite being filled with plenty of seating. There were a couple of nice windows with coloured swan insets at the back near the door to the beer garden. The bar offered Hop Back Summer Lightning (£3.00), GK Abbot, Shep's Spitfire and Harvey's Best. The Summer Lightning was in fairly good condition and was served promptly by the barmaid. There were lots of posters and a blackboard detailing live music events through the week and there was a varied soundtrack playing at a low level throughout my stay. A (very) small TV set above the front door was showing the Holland vs. Slovakia World Cup match, but the screen was so small it was hard to keep track of play. Pub traditionalists would be happy to see a fully functioning bar billiards table in the front room. A solid if unspectacular pub, perhaps worth more of a visit for the interior/décor than the beer/company.

Another great pub with 4 or 5 pumps and 1 guest beer. reasonably well kept beers and a comfortable interior. Worth a visit.
