The Black Horse, Horsham

Since the previous comment The Black Horse now serves a third ale, Hophead from Dark Star and the quality of all of them was fantastic this last weekend. They have also started stocking real ciders on hand pumps. It is a really pretty little pub, and the food was promptly delivered and was really good.

Former cottages, knocked together many years ago to form the pub, this place seems to have changed a fair bit since I was a more regular visitor some years ago. There seems to be a lot more bare brick now and I'm sure they've opened up another room. The emphasis is on the food and quality is good, although pricey. A notable change, however, is a reduction in the choice of ales, down from 4 some years back to just 2 now. These were, on my visit, London Pride & Harvey's Sussex (so not a huge variety there!) and, unfortunately, despite the reduced range, neither were of great quality. The Black Horse is one of many local pubs to move into the music scene. Happily, I can report that the quality in this regard is very high.

The pubs traditional feel, contemporary interior, front and rear garden terraces and tranquil setting makes it an ideal venue for those wishing to escape to the country and enjoy food and refreshments in a relaxing and peaceful environment.
