The Murrell Arms, Bognor Regis

A gem - two room boozer with more old nik-naks on display than David Dickenson could wave a stick at. Small but well-served range of Fuller's ales from stillage, including Butcombe on as a guest. No music, no machines but ring-the-bull (fiendishly hard!), darts, cribbage, proper open fires, low beams and wooden floors. Just what a proper old eccentric English pub should be.

Wow! To think that, if it hadn't been for a cancelled train, we'd never have spent time in this wonderful pub! Defiantly unspoilt and chock-full of odds and ends. Excellent Fullers beer served direct from the cask, friendly locals and pub games. If you also find yourself with time to spare at Barnham, I recommend a quick stroll to the Murrell. Things to note: the Fullers website suggests that it's closed between 3.00 & 5.00, but we visited at about 4.15 on a Saturday afternoon, so you may be OK too. Also - the front door handle is left-handed - fooled me.
