The Round Oak, Wolverhampton

Attractive pub / restaurant overlooking the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, having extensive rear patio and grassed beer gardens beside the towpath. Slightly split-level collection of small seating / dining areas, all with semi-traditional furniture and decor. Background music. I found the two regular Banks's beers - Amber and Sunbeam (£1.70, half) - and Youngs Original available from the two banks of four handpumps.

Another decent pub with the added bonus of a canal side location. Banks's Amber, Sunbeam and Thwaites Wainwright on offer. The 2 we tried were fine. I would happily call again.

A nice canal-side detached Marston's pub/eatery with rear beer garden and kid's play area. The pub is in Georgian style, with columned porch and is in white render, with black paintwork and ashlar stones. The pub extends at the back in undressed brick. The interior has three areas on different levels. The main bar room is on the lower level and has an irregular shaped serving bar with the room curling around it. The room is in white and wood panel with old photos and other pictures on the walls. It has an open fire feature and there is a TV showing motor cycle racing. We made our way up to what turned out to be a smallish dining area, with settles and tables, although we didn't eat so can't comment on that. again, it was in white and wood panel with an open truss ceiling and bistro pictures on the walls. A few canal pots were dotted about and there is a TV, which was showing BBC news. The pub has a dart board. The service was fine and the clientele mixed and it was quite busy. The music was general and at a decent level. Beer; usual tap stuff with cocker Hoop, Perfect Union, Banks's Bitter and a good Banks's MILD on handpull. A nice family food place, but not done out in the general ubiquitous style. Worth a pop into, especially if with the kids and it is a hot day. I would be happy to return.
