The Wheatsheaf, Walsall

Re-opened and not a patch on how it used to be. New, discourteous staff that had little idea. The glasses were filthy and the first pint of ale served to our party was off. We declined the limited food offering due to lack of hygene, but this didn't stop one of our party becoming ill later on. The toilets were a disgrace and the small garden area to the rear needs serious attention. Not family friendly and very limited choice (just look at all the empty optics). We shall not be returning to this pub.

Went to this pub, its a back street local in a depressed area, the lease is up for sale by Marstons, a big corporation. However, I liked this place! I don't know why, but I liked it. Its larger than the normal local, its not modern but it appears loved by both the owners and the customers. It has a few differnet seating areas, little areas, nothing posh, but there are little things here that make it interesting, little things that make a difference and its comfortable. Very much a local, The current staff were friendly and the pub is welcoming. I do hope the fire is lit in winter because that would make it so cosy! Jennings Mild was kept well.
