Substantial Hungry Horse pub / restaurant, partly opened-out inside but leaving a separate over-18s 'L'-shaped bar (with pool table) at the front and the family seating / dining areas at the side. Anonymous semi-modern furniture and decor throughout. Rear beer garden. Just Greene King IPA, Abbot and Old Speckled Hen from the six handpumps, but at least the former was in good condition and just £2.29.

Well used food pub. There were more people in just drinking than eating which is always good to see! 3 beers on including IPA and Spackled Hen. The Spackled Hen was a good pint. The pool table was well used. All in all a decent pub.

I needed to blow off some cobwebs so I stretched my legs and landed here for lunch. It has re-opened in the last few months under the Hungry Horse brand so not surprising that it feels like a family / chain pub where food features prominently. The speed with which the food is delivered gives you a clue as to its microwavability but it performs a function and, as such, there is a place in the market for this type of pub. The service was efficient. Oh, and the toilets and baby change facilities were very clean. The decor was clean and new - the small TV screen showing Postman Pat in the seating booth was novel and caught my daughter's attention. A larger TV screen above the 'fireplace', bordered by logs, showed live football. Besides the usual keg beers, on handpull there was Greene King Abbot, IPA and Old Speckled Hen and Thwaites Lancaster Bomber - which was OK.
