Fine review below, all I would add that, on my visit, Friday afternoon, the staff were very efficient and friendly and offered to top up my pint to the top before I even had to ask. Locals seemed fine too, it is a locals pub but very nice.

A detached corner pub, in brick, with a nod to the jacobean style. There is a beer patio at the back. The interior has two rooms; an open plan lounge/bar area and a bar/games room in which there was a pool table and darts. Generally, the decor was white, with a few blandy prints on the walls to brighten it up. They have Sky TV and there is a small stage area to operates karaoke and live music, or show a big screen TV. Service depended on who you got, one chap was functional, the others friendly - with one guy putting the cricket on especially for us in the games room. Background music was a decent level. The clientele were mixed, but it is a locals pub. Beer; tap stuff, with Burton Bridge Top Dog Stout (nice) and Golden Delicious, the superb Bathams Bitter and Banks's MILD on handpull. A great choice and well kept beers. Been in here a number of times, but it has shot up in my estimations, it gets better and better. Always worth a visit now

This pub now has 3 permanent real ales Jennigs Cocker Hoop and Cumberland together with Marsdens Pedigree.Also a changing guest ale.
