The Plough Inn, Wollaston, Stourbridge

A fantastic Victorian/Edwardian corner pub and eatery with rear patio area. The pub is in a mix of mock-Tudor with a hint of the Gothic style and is in predominantly red brick with some cream stone around the window as well as some black paintwork around the entrance, which has pilasters and a large rounded door. The interior has a couple of rooms served by a central island bar. The front room is set-up for food, with dining tables and i have eaten here - the food was fine and reasonably priced. The decor is a grey colour, with an interesting collection of old radios on display. The back room has a pool table in a side annex. The decor again is lighter grey walls with a darker grey ceiling and a blue patterned carpet. There are mirrors on the walls and some rugby pictures too. The TV wasn't on and there was no music. The service was fine and the clientele mixed - busy with drinkers and diners of all ages. Beer; usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. There are 7 real ale handpulls, which at the last visit had Pedigree, Enville Ale, Hobson's Town Crier, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Spekky Hen, Purity UBU and Wye Valley HPA. All that i tried were well kept. Another quality pub in Wollaston. One definitely to visit and one that i would return to, and have since i wrote the notes - indeed, we ate. I could stay here for hours.

Visited this pub for the first time on 2nd September 2010 and very nice it is too. An old rambling pub offering two large rooms and a good sized beer garden. A good handful of real ales were on offer as well as food and the pint of Hooky Bitter was excellent. One critisism; the glasses - too many bubbles stiking to the side of the glass, never a good look!
