The Masons Arms, Solihull

A pub of two halves, the area to the left when you go in is loungey with comfy chairs and lots of wood, the larger area to the right serves as a loud trendy pre-club modern youngster area. Its a little bit tacky and has been living off clubbers for some time without too much effort, but on my visit at 10pm on a Saturday night possibly showed signs of the better years being behind it - it was no where near full like I have seen it on past visits. A sign of people drinking more at home as a warm up or maybe a one off I don't know. It at least made it easy to find a seat and have a drink. Apparently serves as a coffee house during the day, which I can believe with the beams & its position near the town centre There were 3 real ales of dubious quality

A large, white rendered, town centre terraced pub, that has some external character. The interior was pretty crowded when i visited, with a mixed clientele. I could only see one large open plan area that went around the central bar. The walls are in various colours, as is usual these days, with beams and supporting beams, giving some character to the interior as well. There was Sky TV, comfy chairs and old photographs on the walls. Service was functional, due to it being busy. Beer; tap stuff, with an OK M&B MILD, there were handpull beers, but couldn't see what they were, so i went with the MILD as i wasn't queing. The place had a bit of feel, but is still large and a little soulless. Having just been ripped off by The George Hotel for three bottles of Peroni, i had kind of just had enough of Solihull town.
