ReviewThis is a detached pub/eatery with beer patio and beer garden, with a climbing frame for the kids. It is a modern - 1980s looking place exectued in a light brick and, being honest, it is somewhat featureless from the outside, as pubs of that era are. It consists of the large estate 'house' with lower-level extensions.
The interior has a couple of rooms. At the back there is a bar room. This is in a cream coloured textured wall kind of effect, with a white ceiling and red tile floor. There is a pool table and dart board, as well as a TV, which had footy on. A solid enough bar room. The lounge is where i sat. This is a straight room that is part bisected by an exposed brick feature and brick ceiling support column. It has an 80s feel to the room, with the fakey white and beam ceiling (part of which is open like a barn) and the exposed brick work, including a brick fireplace with a stove fire. The decor is a little more up to date, with patterned wallpaper, white wood panel and a brown patterned carpet. There is bistro style art on the walls, as this is where they serve their budget menu. I didn't eat so can't comment on that. It is also the venue for the live entertainment. There were several TVs, showing footy and one with Heart FM supplying the music. The service was fine and the clientele were locals that started to arrive for the quiz as i left.
Beer; usual tap stuff, with Banks's and M&B MILD - the M&B was OK. There was a real ale handpull, which had a strong stout pump clip, but this was turned around as i approached the bar, as it had just gone.
A tidy enough place and one that seems to have a lot going on for the local community; it was quiz night when i visited, but they have karaoke and there was a poster up for a singer too. If around, i would pop in again for a swifty.
