Old Windmill, Coventry

The Old Windmill has a central corridor made of flagstones to the centre of the pub, midway along the serving counter that runs up the left, before turning into stone and running to the rear. A small carpeted seating area with a coal fireplace, wood panels and access to the bar via a hatch is found in the front left corner. I imagine this is prime seating at busy times. To the right of the entrance are couple of small seating areas across the front windows, the furthest right also housing an inglenook with fireplace. A carpeted seating area with a piano runs up the right opposite the serving counter. At the end of the counter on the left rear panelled wall are lots of old pumps clips and opposite is a small seating area with a round brick fireplace or oven of some kind. During a recent Monday afternoon visit five of the six hand pumps were in use drawing Bass, TT Landlord, Old Peculiar, North Cotswold Brewery’s Moreton Mild and Summer Solstice as well as Church End Brewery’s Stout Coffin. Premium keg was also available alongside Beavertown’s Neck Oil and the food stretched to rolls from the bar top. I thought this place was interesting and worth a look.
