The New Inn, Birmingham

A half decent pub. 4 handpumps on the bar with fairly standard beers on today. Purity beers were still on and that was probably the best of the rather dull selection, the others being national beers today.

Chosen as the starting point of a 4 pub crawl in Harborne. May have peaked early. Tiny front bar, with a sign asking to punters to go in the main bar. At least four real ales on and I went for an Ubu Purity, which was the best example of this brew that I have ever had. Nice interior - main bar set out more for food - but a nice little drinking area in the small bar around a fire. Recommended. Apart from the rather loud Robbie Williams swing album. A proper traditional pub a couple of mins walk from the high street. It has a small front bar, snug and a large lounge and also it's own bowling green. Friendly staff and locals alike. Banks Bitter and Banks Mild were brill, will defo call again.

A nice white rendered corner pub, with beer patio. I remebered when i popped in that i did so last as my friend's best man just before his wedding down the road some 16 years back. The interior i think had three rooms; a bar, lounge and a little snug, where we sat. The lounge i think was in white, i just had a glimpse, the bar was in white and wood panel, the snug in blue, with blue leather seats, a nice tiled fireplace, mirror and a couple of arty pictures that at least didn't spoil the room. There was a TV in the bar, with the rugby on and the place was busy with a mixed clientele. The service at first seemed a little miserable, but we had a nice goodbye when we left, so we soon fitted in. Beer; tap stuff; a good Banks's MILD on handpull, with untried Pedigree, Banks's Bitter and Usher's Ale. A nice enough place, well worth a vist. I shall go back.
