George & Dragon, Redfield, Bristol

A smallish, single-room pub located on the main road between Redfield and St. George. There are exposed stone built walls which are unusual in a city pub, you could almost imagine yourself being in a cosy country inn, and this feeling continues with the beamed ceiling, although this was in a state of disrepair in places having been patched up with board. The floor too was in need of attention, being an untidy hotchpotch of old tiles, lino and carpet. Overall though, the place has got a pleasant ambience and I quite liked it. There's a pool table off to the left, and very limited seating. A few stools and a couple of tables dotted about here and there, but overall this seems to be a pub for standing, unless they don't get too many punters in. It was certainly very quiet when we arrived just before closing time on Saturday, with just one other punter in there. The two ladies running it seemed friendly. The solitary beer offering was Bass, and although I'm not an expert, this seemed a little tired. Ciders were Blackthorn and Natch.
