The Hazelwell, Birmingham

Typical 1930s West Midlands suburban pub with numerous seating and dining areas around the central servery, with the back part of the bar (where the pool table can be found) still separated by a door through a glazed screen. Also retains a function room upstairs. Nowadays a Sizzling pubco outlet, and much of the original character must have been lost during various remodellings and refurbishments over the years, although some hints remain in the spacious interior. Normally serves Doom Bar from the various handpumps on different parts of the counter, but the morning delivery hadn't settled on my visit. That just left a draught cider, but I went for the keg M&B Mild (£2.95) instead.
