The Tiller Pin Another Charles Welles pub. Visible from the canal, but no easy access to the pub on that side of the canal. It means mooring up on the other side and a 5/10 minute trek on the very busy main roads. As previous contributors mention McDonalds hides the way to the pub! On entering the pub it had the strong aroma of vinegar and was very busy with noisy families. The menu is your usual chain pub grub, in other words straight from the freezer to microwave! It did have one good thing two real ales, although on swan neck pumps. We enjoyed our bombardier, but were short measured, but as we weren’t keen to stay it didn’t worry us. We sat outside which was pleasant enough, but doesn’t take advantage of having a view of the canal. It’s not somewhere I’d recommend for a nice place to stop for an hour of two. 19th September 2010
