Crows Nest, Newcastle Upon Tyne

A high-ceilinged old pub, thankfully restored from its days as an Aussie bar. Not badly done up, although you can spot the GK corporate touches, like too many green tiles and where they are not needed. 8 handpumps offered Abbot and OSH, 2 Lilley's fruit-based beverages and 4 good and interesting ales, including the Uni's Stu Brew. Heavily aimed at students, so might become unbearable at peak times, but it was nice enough late afternoon.

Really good pub with excellent service. A wide choice of ales - Abotts, Bass, Anarchy Brew Wor Beer, Great North Eastern Brewing Bay State, Screamtown Pale ale, Great Corby Fox Brown Ale, Stu Brew Exam Room Tears and Lab Session Pale ale. Stu Brew is a microbrewery based at Newcastle University so I felt compelled to try it! I'm glad I did as the Lab Session was a superb pint. Next time I am up here I'd spend longer in here. Well worth a visit.
