The Wheat Sheaf, Felling, Gateshead

Only a couple of minutes walk from the metro. There were three Big Lamp Ales on handpump on our visit, Prince Bishop, Nels Best and the Big Lamp Bitter. The Big Lamp bitter was superb and priced at £2.35 a pint. The pub consists of a large lounge with bar and a small snug to the rear. The pub has a lot of its original features, I noticed there was an ornate plaster work frieze above the picture rail. Big Lamp is the oldest micro brewery in Newcastle and started in 1982. Opening times are Mon-Wed 5pm, Thurs 3pm Fri-Sun 12.

Old style corner boozer. High quality pints of Big Lamp beers (Bitter, Sunny Daze, Prince Bishop). Landlord and lady very friendly. Propper pub interior...even the gents are outside! Well well worth a visit!
