The Black Horse, Kingston Upon Thames

This is an Enterprise Inns pub, which had Courage Best and Spitfire on during my visit. The Spitfire was fine, served in a branded glass, and was £3.20 a pint. The pub was very quiet at 2.00 PM on a Monday afternoon, with just me and a handful of other drinkers in there. This pub is a fairly large one-room affair, although some drinking areas are separated by screens and balustrades. It’s carpeted, with furnishings consisting of normal tables and chairs, a few banquettes, and of course stools at the bar. There’s a dartboard near one of the windows at the front, and of course there’s a fruit machine. There was no-one eating when I was in there, but the usual pubco pub grub seems to be available at reasonable prices – main meals ranged from £4.25 to £6.75, and included a “two meals for £7” offer. A Sunday carvery is also on offer, with one course at £6.95. This seems to be a fairly standard high street pubco pub, with nothing special about it and not worth seeking out, but OK for somewhere to stop off for a pint or two.
