Ye Olde Six Bells, Horley

An absolutely gorgeous old pub tucked away in a back road by the church, with a lovely tile hung frontage and glorious side barn. Inside it is equally ancient, although tastefully modernised, with beams and lots of woodwork with a multiplicity of side rooms and even an upstairs, if you can find it. Sadly it is almost entirely given over to dining with nearly all tables laid up. Service also left something to be desired, with a huge wait for someone to show up at the bar (without apology) and then a slightly supercilious "you can sit over there" if you dared to suggest indoors rather than outdoors drinking. Cask ales were Doom Bar and, surprisingly, Oakham Citra. This could be a great pub but doesn't quite make it.
