As the name would suggest, the Farmhouse is a country style pub and it is located on the edge of Horley Town. The pub is set back from an unlit lane by a large grass covered beer garden that is full of picnic tables and a smoking area. Across the path that leads to the pub are more picnic tables and a toddler’s play area with slide etc. Food plays a large part at this pub so it was not surprising to find a car park at the rear. The bar area found in the right hand side of the pub is bookended by an inglenook to the left and a small seating area to the right. This seating area, that houses a plasma screen that was showing football and a dartboard, had been commandeered by some locals during my recent Saturday evening visit. I found the gentleman working the jump to be polite and my pint of Fullers’ London pride was well served. Skinner’s Betty Stogs, Courage Best and Adnams Brewery’s Ghost Ship were also available alongside a standard draught lager range. The left hand side of the pub houses a cosy seating area that is accessed through an open door from the bar area. On each table was a food menu that advertises pub mains that are priced around the £10 mark. I didn’t try the food so I cannot comment on the quality. The interior of this pub was a lot smaller than the exterior suggested and I can imagine it being manic in here on a hot summer’s afternoon. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I certainly wouldn’t hesitate if I had the chance to take the family along for some early lunch.
