The Cricketers, Guildford

Country pub just beyond the north-western outskirts of Guildford, set back from the road at the front and with a split-level, part decking beer garden at the back. The L-shaped interior has been opened out, with the bar at the front and dining room (extended with a conservatory further back). With three of the five handpumps in use, I found London Pride plus the more local Tongham TEA (£5.30) and DB One Best from Dorking.

As described by Moby, below. The large TV screen was showing sport, there weren’t many people in and the pub dog was by far the most sociable person there. Ales on were TEA, Tribute and Ghost Ship, all in decent condition. Also on were Guinness, Moretti, 2 mega-ciders, Fosters and Stella, plus there was a bank of cocktails on tap, which seemed rather gaudy. It’s a decent enough pub but not somewhere I’d seek out unless passing through.
