The Royal Oak, Tamworth

A friendly and lively community pub with alternating quiz and poker nights on Tuesday's and several horse racing trips advertised for regulars.Sky sports is screened here in the open plan interior and there is also a space invaders table game for those wanting a diversion.A little let down by the choice of ale,but probably the best in Polesworth which is hardly a glowing recomendation.Close to the Coventry Canal.It still feels that the town has not recovered from the closure of Pooley colliery in the 80's and the pub music is stuck in that time warp.

A one room, traditional local boozer with a friendly atmosphere and a number of regular events. Tuesday night is poker night and several large tables are taken over by the locals at 8.30 for a serious game. Not a huge range of beer with Abbott and Pedigree on. We had a couple of Pedigrees and that was probably enough but Polesworth isn't hugely well served with real ale pubs and The Royal Oak is probably where you'll find the best pint. Not one to make a detour for but probably the default option if you're stuck.
