The Crafty Beggar, Crewe

Built in the 1960’s, this is the only pub on Redcliffe Hill after the redevelopment of the area in the 1960’s when everything was demolished to build offices and multi-storey flats. This was originally called the Merchant Venturer, but the name was changed some 20 years ago. The nearby Sun Alliance offices closed a few years ago and that building is now a Hotel, so this pub could get some trade from the hotel customers that fancy a pint outside?

Great news this pub is reopening next week, as you can see by the photograph they are currently painting the exterior, I will get back with more details soon. update from my recommendations late last year I have been here numerous times and Bruce the new landlord has done a great job. always a cracking pint and great customers and staff, my previous one star is now three stars, keep up the good work bruce! my lateast picture shows how large the pub is and now has live bands playing most weekends
