The Roebuck, Leek

Another absolute winner from Project William,featuring the outstanding ales from Titanic.It's an old building with beams and proper fireplaces but well fitted out with drinking booths opposite the bar,a slghtly sloping floor to the rear room ,a second lower level room at the rear and a restaurant section back to the front.Nicely wood panneled and some nooks and crannies. On my trip the Titanic ales were Steerage,Sundeck,Iceberg,White Star,Plumb Porter,Captain Smith and Nine Tenths Below while Everards Tiger and Artiginale also featured.The sole guest was Springhead Roaring Meg.We went through the Titanic card and found ale quality of the highest order,with pricing around £3 pp apart from the strong ABV's.I also noticed nine keg fonts mounted in the wall a la Euston Tap,with an interesting selection of kegged beers including Titanic Stout.Lots of women in drinking wine,with fruit wines also featuring here.Rightly in the GBG,and opposite the Joules pub ,it appears they do regular ale swaps and seem cooperative according to a sign in the gents. The only problem with this pub is that you wont want to leave,it has to be your first port of call when in Leek.

The Roebuck is in the town centre and has got a mock tudor frontage. Once inside here the pub was well furnished and quite smart but there were no real ales on the bar and the only bitter was Boddigtons smooth which i find undrinkable so i had a Guinness. It was a shame there was'nt just one real ale on here.
