The Derby Inn, Burton On Trent Town, Burton on Trent

A small two pub with a public to the right and slightly smarter lounge to the left. Entering the public will take you back a few decades, maybe as far as the 1960s, with its lino tile floor,and leatherette covered benches and stools. A concession to modernity is the big screen, although the dart board and juke box could be from another age. The bookshelves carry a collection of mainly sport and music reference books. The walls are decorated with plates commemorating local collieries and railways, and there is a collection of photos of the brewery railways of Burton and some of Derby’s main line products. Two pulls in each bar with a choice of Pedigree, Thwaites, Adnams or Brains mainly at the stronger end of the bitter range. I had a fine pint of Pedigree. Chatty, friendly bunch of locals, so a proper traditional boozer of the sort rapidly disappearing elsewhere.

More of a locals' pub but we were made to feel welcome all the same. Homely, clean bar area with traditional decor, made me feel like I was in my own living room. Serves a fine pint of Burton ale. Not eaten here yet, but the traditional menu seems reasonably priced.

Nostalgic friendly local boozer with a long serving landlord. Sells spuds, onions, etc like pubs used to do years ago. The locals are friendly too. Have a nice clean pint and step back in time 30 to 40 years while you're at it.(Well if it aint broke, don't fix it.) Not a bad place at all.
