The Queens Hotel (JD Wetherspoon), Rotherham

The Queen's Hotel is an original hotel and pub that was built by the John Smith's Brewery. JDW must surely have this earmarked for one of their hotels as the upper floor seems to be completely unused (no upstairs toilets). Inside it's a large roughly L shaped room with a walled side patio that had some astroturf. The whole place had lots of empty space on my Friday afternoon visit. It all seemed far too large for somewhere the size of Maltby. The ten hand pumps on the bar also had a poor choice for a place this size with one unused, one available soon then Bradfield Farmers Stout, Ruddles, Elland Beyond the Pale and Moorhouse Pride of Pendle all doubled up. I went for the Farmers Stout (£2.15) which was in good nick. This one is GBG 2017 listed but overall I found it disappointing.
