The Shrewsbury Arms, Chester

A good looking dining pub on the busy A56 between Mickle Trafford and Bridge Trafford, but it's hard to say how much trade they derive from each village. Three hand pumps with Exmoor Ale (an old favourite) and Otter Bitter (not a favourite). Unfortunately the Exmoor was banana-is, and the young lass behind the bar agreed, saying it was probably the end of the barrel, but the Otter was fresh on. The beer may have been fresh, but something must have happened between barrel and glass. Again she agreed with my tastes-of-apples description, and I opted for a brandy to cleanse my palate. Good customer service, poor beer.
