The Highwoods, Mexborough

The Highwoods is a typical 50s built estate pub that is named after the estate that it is on. Once inside there is a bar to the front right which had bench seating facing the the bar and a pool table to the far right,this room was very busy with a mix of locals. The lounge is to the left,this is a larger room that extends to the rear of the pub,there was bench seating in bays and the room was carpeted. I had to have a drink in the lounge because the bar was full,this was a big mistake,the room was empty apart from myself and a tribe of kids who were useing the room as a playground,having races up and down the room,this was very off putting while trying to write some notes and drink my beer. There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of John Smiths smooth crap which was pretty poor. I am usually happy in any pub i go in,but this one was a realy poor pub to visit.
