The Staff of Life, Doncaster

The Staff of Life is a rather unattractive pub on the edge of a shopping precinct. I didn’t notice anyone with shopping bags during my recent Saturday afternoon visit, but there were twenty or so locals in attendance. In the right hand side of the pub is some seating, a dartboard and a plasma screen that was showing muted horse racing. There is another plasma screen in the larger left hand side of the pub which was airing a premiership football match via BT Sport. The football was also muted as music from the jukebox was preferred. A disco is advertised for the last Saturday of the month. The bar is stocked with standard draught and one of the hand pumps was unused leaving Hobgoblin as the lone ale option. There are better pubs in the area so I’m not sure that I would find myself in here again.
