The Castle Vaults, Shrewsbury

The nearest pub to the station that is worth going in (that may change when The Station Hotel opposite the station reopens under The Vaults management). The Salopian Oracle was on good form. Three other ales were on, one was Holdens Golden Glow, but I did not mentally record the others. The pub was busy Saturday lunch with many people making a short visit, possibly using it as the station bar like I was.

This is an old pub just up from the station. Inside it's a single wooden floored room but split into area at different levels. The bar has four hand pumps which had Three Tuns Rantipole, Stonehouse Station Bitter, Hobson's Town Crier and Salopian Shropshire Gold. I went for the Town Crier which was in excellent nick. This is a nice enough pub but is open until 02:00am on Friday and Saturday so is probably a living hell on those occasions. It is GBG 2015 listed.
