Jaspers Arms, Shifnal

I previously visited Shifnal to tick off the GBG entries - which (perhaps surprisingly) this is not. It has all the makings to suggest it should be - a freehouse with four hand pulls on. The ceiling full of pump clips suggesting a very high turnover of guest ales. Its always fun to do the mental arithmetic of what percentage I have drunk. On today (1/7/25) the cask were mainly Wye Valley. It was also the hottest day of the year so far, and I had walked 12 miles. So I opted for keg quality lager, being rather pleased to find ABK 500 on draught. Plenty of chesterfields (always a mark of quality in a pub), large open plan and a landlady that did just enough to keep conversation flowing between the disparate groups of punters on a Tuesday lunch. Best in town, in my book!

Decent pub with a few tables out the front to watch the world go by. 4 ales on when I called - Greene King IPA, Three Tuns pale ale, Holden's Best Bitter and Golden Glow. The 2 we tried were in good nick. Well worth a visit.
