The Gate Inn, Ordsall, Retford

A tidy local, on the boundary between semi-rural and suburban, which was clearly tarted-up in the era when tartan carpets were in vogue. There is one L-shaped room with the bar in the centre and a rather too-prominent pool table in the corner. Approaching from the South, I feared it was closed at first but its seems the right-hand entrance is not used (it could do with a sign). Outside there is a garden with a play area for the kiddies. Beerwise it had Black Sheep Best and TT Landlord on handpump at £4.40 and condition seemed ok. A reasonable pub but nothing special.
