The Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham

As you would expect from Castle Rock this is an unspoilt old school boozer. I didn't have much time here as I had a train to catch. You enter to find a huge array of hand pumps with numerous Castle Rock beers and some guests. I went for the Pheasantry Stout which was excellent and priced at around three quid or so. This place is far better than the trendy warehouse dives by the canal the other side of the Railway Station and I will definitely return next time I get a train back from Nottingham.

Castle rocks brewery tap showcasing their entire portfolio plus the occasional guest. since the removal of the discount scheme prices have been reduced 20/30p across the board even on lager making it very good value. their ales included Sheriffs tipple (£2.40), Black gold (£2.50) and Harvest pale (£2.70) among others and offers CAMRA discount of 20p per pint making my black gold even better at just £2.30!! the beers are kept in very good condition as you would expect being their brewery tap and my black gold was in fantastic form, probably my favorite mild, defiantly my favorite castle rock ale. the pub itself is in keeping with Castle rocks style with wooden floorboards and comfy bench seating. all round this is a fantastic find and well worth a visit, a real highlight of Nottingham's pub scene
