Right on the station level crossing, friendly, traditional 2 roomed pub. Great beer choice served in excellent condition.

This place seems to be something of an institution in this part of the world. I completely failed to realise that there were two rooms as I walked in to see a row of 12 hand pumps so went no further. The room I entered was wide with a stone flagged floor. Beers available were mainly local with more than one from Sonnet 43, Hadrian and Fyne. I tried the Sonnet 43 Aurora(£3.20) and the North Yorkshire White Lady (£3.30) both of which were excellent. This is a superb pub where you can while away the time watching all the trains you're missing go sailing past.

Well deserved entry in the 2010 Good Beer Guide, we found the ales tried here superb. The Island Beer Festival was still on with plenty of choice on about 14 handpulls. The folk both sides of the bar were ever so friendly and the atmosphere was great. Bar laden with various food. Not nuts and crisps but the most tasty offerings like black pudding and garlic bread. Great place.
