The Red Lion (JD Wetherspoon), Bedlington

The Red Lion appears to be an original pub. Inside it's an open plan rectangular room with another possibly new area at the rear right leading to a patio and another room down a few steps on the more immediate right. There is a dart board but if it actually gets used I couldn't tell. It's all quite pleasant. The bar has a set of three hand pumps with the JDW Trio Of Doom and a set of five which had festival beers on. I went for the Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay Red IPA (£1.89 festival price). It seemed odd drinking a Kent beer in Northumberland and especially at that price. As for the problem with children mentioned below it is a rule for their pubs but the trouble is it hardly ever gets enforced. I thought this was a good JDW.
