The Angel, Scarborough

We've visited this pub on several occasions before, but we had a strange visit a couple of weeks ago. There's a horseshoe shaped bar and lots of bench seating around the walls, most of which is so narrow it's hard to sit on. It's very much a locals local. A couple of cask ales on the bar, including a decent pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippen. The red wine is in small bottles, but it's Jack Rabbit which suits the other half down to the ground. They have a large sign which says that children are not welcome at any time. When we called in there was a birthday party on and the place was full of kids!! Poor visit this time round, but we'll probably call again as it's not usually this bad.

A good quality locals pub, serving some fairly mainstream ale choices in good condition, less of a beer destination than the North Riding or Valley on that front. Look out for the saucy postcard collection which adorns the walls. TV sports and darts available, loads of trophies dotted around from the pub's various sports teams. Nice patio garden out the back. Pretty good for what it is.

A great little pub. Staff and customers really friendly. Always a couple of real ales on - kept in good condition. A great collection of "saucy" postcards adorn the walls. Well worth a visit.
