Star Inn, Filey

An unusual-looking inter-war pub on a side street just off the centre which proved to be a lively locals' pub, nicely full and with a good buzz of conversation. The decoration of the large main room was a bit of a mish-mash but that was made up for by a good selection of Yorkshire ales, namely Bradfield Farmers Blonde, Hambleton Nightmare Porter, Wensleydale Semer Water and Yorkshire Heart Silverheart, with Theakstons Best bringing up the rear. There was also a plainer and unused dining room behind, with a beer garden at the rear and the food was pretty good. A proper pub with good beer.

Not too bad - quite a lot of character and good craic with the locals. Expensive, but not outrageously so given the fairly touristy location.

I really feel intimidated in this pub, the staff are not friendly, and the beer was cloudy, there was no food been served?

looked through the filey pubs i decided to save this one for last.Well, what can i say?? The food was good for the price and the cleanliness of a high standard but felt very intimidated by the landlord who seemed to be picking on kids outside the pub.Also,could have swore i saw him on crimewatch the other week

Excellent, Live music every fri & sat night and sun aft. Karaoke, pub quiz, poker nights, pool table. Live big screen showings of every major football match, Available to hire for private parties.

Top class food. I had roast beef with all the trimmings and it was perfect. For dessert I had apple crumble and it was the best apple crumble I have tasted. Even better than my mums. As for the staff, they were friendly, helpful and best of all cheerful. They went out of their way to make everything perfect, even helped us sort our 8 month old little boy out with what he needed too, so they are very child friendly. Wonderful place to go for all the family.
