Hadn't been here for many years and was pleasantly surprised. A deceptively large sport-orientated pub with a general well-run feel, just down from the station, with two separated sides. The saloon side has a large bar area, opening into a side room, with a further eating-type room at the rear and a rear patio area for smokers. The bare wood floor gives a bit of a spartan feel, but the furnishings are ok, with a liberal sprinkling of sports tv screens. The sports side actually feels slightly warmer, with pool & darts in a separate room to the rear, but again with many screens. Considerable range of food, occasional quiz nights, music etc. And not forgetting the beer, which as well as rather prolific Guinness taps included a range of interesting ales. Probably worth avoiding on match days, but otherwise not bad at all.

Disappointing place, uninspiring and limited real ale, mirroring the atmosphere. Very expensive too, taking the mickey out of the rugby fans.
