Previously The Starling (the old sign is still visible on the outside wall), this splendid Georgian building has been gutted and turned into a single bar establishment with laminate floors, pink lighting and (c)rap music blaring out, it has the décor, class and ambience of a cheap East German nightclub. I feel the name is mispelt but correctly pronounced. The similarity ends there; at least you can get a decent beer in a German nightclub, something entirely out of the question here. Vulgar, weak gnats' urine in 330ml bottles is sold for the same price as an expensive pint of strong ale in a real pub. Cocktails and euphemistically named 'Eats' are similarly overpriced. There is an outside seating area with a good view of the main road. I left before I started self-harming and will, in future, sync elsewhere.
