The Black Horse, Greenford

A large, canalside, Fullers pub well reviewed below so I won't repeat the salient points. Beer: Pride, ESB and Red Fox. We tried the latter two which were in excellent condition and flowed well. A reasonable sized area was given over to tables with menus although they were being used for drinking alone as well as eating but clearly food has a reasonable part to play here. We didn't eat but the menu looked ok and if hungry I wouldn't hesitate. Good spot for lunch by the water on a sunny day.

Fullers tied house ,but not featuring their full range with only London Pride,ESB and seasonal Red Fox available when I popped in one evening.Ale was in good condition and there was Sky Sports footie on two screens,a small plasma in the left hand public bar side and a large plasma to the right of the entrance in the main seating area.As the previous reviewer mentioned,the split level rear extension is a major feature with a great verandah with views over the Grand Union canal,while the lower level garden bar has three seperate handpumps,very helpful when the large garden is used in fine weather.The garden bar also hosts jam sessions on a few evenings,and there is a pub quiz on Thursday's so there lots going on .The furniture throughout the interior is a mix of tables and sofas and the pub food is grill orientated with mains between £8-£9.Piped musak also competes with the footie and the jam session so this isnt a quiet pub but the prints around the walls of the canals in their commercial hayday give an authentic feel to this canalside hostelry at one of the few safe stopping places for boats between Little Venice and Uxbridge.
